dessert has two 'S's because you always want more

Hey,

Well today me and the lady head out of LA and travel to Phoenix for the weekend.  We will be staying with some friends and hopefully doing lots of the following:

eating
drinking
eating out
swimming*

*not in that order, because that could be dangerous

This trip should be a blast and will spawn at least one new post about the food of the desert.

gross

Ugh,

I woke up around 5am and puked my brains out.  For those who don't know me well, I am a scream puker.  During a toilet hugging session, I dig deep and scrape the bottom of my guts and pull everything out.

It is loud and gross.

I returned to bed only to sleep for a few more hours before doing this dance all over again. This fight had one more round before finally ending.

I'm not sure what caused the sickness.  I did a bit of drinking but this felt different then just booze vomit.  What really sucks is that this illness canceled my trip to San Fransisco where I planned on reporting on all the delicious foods of the weekend.  Most notably, a great Falafel joint that serves up amazing sandwiches that are the size of your arm.  I first tired this place a few months ago and I was really excited about returning.

All this barfing has burned my throat.  I need to eat something but soup is all my stomach can handle.  What type of soup should I have?

Unrelated: You know it is a bad sign when your pets (in this case my cats) lay on top of you because they know you are sick.  Some weird animal way of saying that you should stay in bed and rest.

conveyor belts

Hey,

Today for lunch me and the lady went to Fat Fish in Koreatown for some sushi.  We sat at the bar which features Kaiten aka the conveyor belt action that brings those delicious little plates around.  Mon-Sat all the sushi is 50% off from 11am-3pm and again from 5pm-10pm.

We had a wide variety of dishes and plates which only totaled $27.60 and left us both happy and full of fish.  Much like polar bears

The key to Kaiten style sushi is to pick a balance of new items you have never had before while adding some old favorites to insure a good dining experience.  It also helps to sit near the chef because you can ask him for something you don't see on the belt.

The Nigiri was pretty solid.  Good ratio of fish to rice and all the seafood was fresh and well cut. The rolls had well thought out flavor combinations and looked great.  This place has a modern interior (much like a sexy spaceship) and a relaxed atmosphere.  Pair all this with good service and you are left with a quality sushi spot that is both cheap and fun.

So far, Fat Fish is the best 'Fast Food' sushi place I have tired.  Better than Frying Fish or Sushi Mac.

Side note: They did not charge us for either our Miso soups or my side of spicy mayo.  It is the small things like this that make me comeback for seconds.
